In 2018, ESCMID will again sponsor up to two ESCMID Young Investigator Awards for research in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases to recognize outstanding research by younger colleagues in these fields.

Eligibility criteria:

Nominees for the award should be born on or after 1 January 1978. Appropriate research may be based on laboratory investigations, clinical trials, animal studies, or a combination thereof. Nominees must have a valid Full or Young Scientist ESCMID membership. Members of the ESCMID Executive Committee are not eligible. Self-applications are not accepted.

What you need for the nomination

All documentation is to be submitted electronically (no hard copies required). When submitting, please have the following documentation ready and make sure you have uploaded the correct documents. You cannot make any changes to any part of your nomination once the deadline has expired.

1. CV and proof of the nominee's age;


2. Complete list of publications, in which up to five publications over the last three years should be highlighted (in bold) to exemplify the nominee’s excellent work;


3. Description of the candidate, her/his career, her/his research interests and personal contributions to the various research projects she or he has been participating in. Please combine 1) to 3) as a PDF including the nominee’s name in the file name (max. 4MB);


4. Two letters of support from individuals outside of the nominating institution. Please submit as PDFs including the corresponding supporter name in each file name (max. 4MB);


5. A colour photograph including the nominee’s name in the file name (photograph should be .tiff, .eps or .jpg; max 4MB; at least 4 x 6 cm with 300 dpi resolution for publication).
